Cloud Services and Voice over IP Phone Systems
While the cloud has become a ubiquitous term within our culture, it is often a very misunderstood concept. To demystify the cloud, we work with our clients on a strategic basis in order to clearly see what the cloud is and how to take advantage of the benefits while also weighing the costs associated with the services provided. Different services offered through the cloud may not offer sufficient benefit compared to the higher costs that are required, which is why MCL focuses on business use-cases as the driving force behind technological change within any company. Some scenarios and applications are best suited by an on-premise server or workstation running the application that your business needs to succeed. While other times the benefits and flexibility offered by cloud services outweigh the long-term increased costs and maintenance required to host these services internally. MCL will work with you to determine what best suits your business and help you implement the necessary components for the solutions decided on.
Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
The most successful suite of cloud services offered to businesses today include Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. These online services provide advanced functionality in email delivery, productivity applications, and collaboration among staff and external partners. Whether your business is looking to establish an email-only subscription or collaborate through all of the apps provided by these services MCL is ready to support your staff and administer the product for you.
Microsoft 365 (previously Office 365) provides an industry leading email service called Exchange which allows for seamless synchronization of accounts between desktop, web, and mobile access so that your email, contacts and calendars are always up to date regardless of where you view them. In addition to this easy-to-use email service, subscriptions can include access to the well-known suite of Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Visio and Planner can also be included in subscriptions, which provide both desktop and online access that are always updated with the latest features provided by Microsoft. For file collaboration, Microsoft 365 offers each licensed user 1TB of OneDrive for Business storage space as well as centralized document libraries hosted on SharePoint which allow for per-folder security and sharing permissions to be established. Sharing among staff and external users has never been easier.
VoIP Reselling and Supporting
The convenience and flexibility offered by the cloud has also been extended to the phone system as can be seen by the proliferation of voice over IP (VoIP) technology available to businesses today. There are a variety of ways in which voice over IP can be delivered so whether your company is looking at a hosted on-premise PBX system with SIP trunking, a third-party Cloud PBX or a subscription service from a major provider, MCL is here to help. Not all VoIP systems offer the same convenience or flexibility when it comes to remote work so MCL works with each client to determine the desired usage before recommending a few options for a cost benefit analysis.
We work with local VoIP providers in Alberta as well as major telecom partners such as Shaw SmartVoice or Telus RingCentral systems to bring our clients a centralized support experience regardless of the need. MCL has also partnered with Intermedia to resell a VoIP system which provides greater control and flexibility over the entire VoIP experience. And finally, Microsoft also offers an expanding VoIP experience via Teams Phone add-on licensing if Microsoft 365 services are already utilized.
